Richard Bhatt

Richard Bhatt specializes in extragonadal germ cell tumors, which arise from the mediastinum or retroperitoneum and carry a worse prognosis than gonadal primaries. His research has characterized clinical and molecular features of mediastinal nonseminomatous germ cell tumors and identified molecular biomarkers distinguishing extragonadal from testicular primary germ cell tumors. He has evaluated intensified chemotherapy approaches including high-dose strategies for poor prognosis extragonadal disease. His work has advanced understanding of the biology and optimal management of these rare and challenging presentations.
