Riad Salem is a global leader in transarterial radioembolization (TARE) using Yttrium-90 microspheres for primary and metastatic liver cancer. He conducted landmark trials establishing Y-90 SIRT as an effective treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma and colorectal liver metastases. His SARAH trial compared Y-90 radioembolization with sorafenib in HCC, advancing the evidence base for locoregional therapies. He has trained interventional oncologists worldwide and shaped international treatment guidelines for liver-directed therapies.
