Rakesh Jain

Rakesh Jain developed the concept of vascular normalization, demonstrating that antiangiogenic agents can transiently normalize tumor vasculature, improve oxygen delivery, and enhance radiation and drug efficacy. His research has provided a mechanistic rationale for combining anti-VEGF agents with radiotherapy. He has contributed to understanding why tumor hypoxia is self-perpetuating and how normalization windows can be exploited therapeutically.
