Raghu Kalluri is a pioneer in exosome biology and tumor microenvironment research. He demonstrated that tumor-derived exosomes educate distant tissues to form pre-metastatic niches before cancer cell arrival. His work established that exosomes can suppress immune responses and promote organ-specific metastasis. He has also developed exosome-based liquid biopsy approaches for early cancer detection.
