Stanley Qi developed CRISPR interference and CRISPR activation using catalytically inactive Cas9 to silence or activate target genes without cutting DNA. His technologies have enabled genome-scale functional screens and new therapeutic strategies in cancer. His laboratory continues to expand dCas9-based tools for epigenome editing.
