Brian Pogue has developed Cherenkov-excited photodynamic therapy, a revolutionary approach that uses Cherenkov light generated by radiation therapy beams to activate photosensitizers deep within tumors, eliminating the need for external light delivery. His work combines radiation oncology with phototherapy to achieve synergistic tumor killing in deep-seated cancers unreachable by conventional PDT. He leads computational treatment planning and real-time optical monitoring of PDT delivery.
