Martyn Plummer

Martyn Plummer was a biostatistician and scientist at IARC whose statistical modeling of infection-attributable cancer fractions produced widely used global estimates. His analyses of HPV type distribution in cervical cancer across world regions informed vaccine development targeting the most prevalent oncogenic HPV types. His development of Bayesian statistical methods for cancer epidemiology, including the widely used JAGS software, has advanced analytical capabilities across the infection-cancer research field.
