Peter Vogt

Peter Vogt made foundational contributions to understanding the molecular basis of retroviral transformation and oncogene biology. His research characterized the viral src gene of Rous sarcoma virus and established key principles of how retroviral oncogenes transform cells. He identified transformation-defective viral mutants that provided critical insights into the functional domains of oncoproteins. His decades of research on PIK3CA and PI3K signaling in cancer have further expanded his legacy in cancer biology. His work bridging virology and oncology helped establish the genetic basis of cancer.
