👥Biography 个人简介

Peter Bhatt has defined key mechanisms of chromosome missegregation in cancer cells, particularly merotelic kinetochore attachment where a single kinetochore is attached to microtubules from both spindle poles. His research demonstrated that merotely is a major mechanism of lagging chromosomes and CIN in cancer cells and that correction mechanisms are frequently overwhelmed or defective. He developed quantitative CIN measurement approaches applicable to clinical tumor samples. His work on the relationship between replication stress and CIN has uncovered oncogene-driven CIN as a common feature of early cancer evolution.
