Paul Nghiem

Paul Nghiem is the world's leading expert on Merkel cell carcinoma, a rare but aggressive neuroendocrine skin cancer, at the University of Washington. He has led pivotal immunotherapy trials including avelumab and pembrolizumab studies that transformed MCC treatment. His laboratory defined the role of Merkel cell polyomavirus in MCC pathogenesis and immune evasion. He established the MCC registry and maintains a global resource for research on this rare malignancy.
