Paul Harari at Wisconsin contributed to the development of cetuximab plus radiotherapy for locally advanced HNSCC — a regimen showing improved outcomes versus radiotherapy alone in a landmark trial and establishing cetuximab as an alternative to cisplatin-based chemoradiation in patients who cannot tolerate cisplatin. His work on EGFR biology in head and neck cancer and on radiotherapy optimization has been important.
