Paul Ehrlich
MD
Physician-Scientist (1854-1915) — Historical Pioneer
👥Biography 个人简介
Paul Ehrlich was a Nobel Prize-winning physician-scientist who first proposed the concept of 'magic bullets' — targeted therapeutic agents that would kill pathogens and cancer cells while sparing healthy tissue. He pioneered the idea that the immune system could recognize and reject tumors, articulating the 'immune surveillance' hypothesis decades before it was experimentally confirmed. His development of arsphenamine (Salvarsan) established the paradigm for targeted drug therapy. His visionary concepts laid the intellectual foundation for both targeted therapy and cancer immunotherapy.
