Klaus Pantel

Klaus Pantel is a founder of the liquid biopsy field whose work on disseminated tumor cells in bone marrow and circulating tumor cells in blood has established their prognostic significance across multiple cancer types. His large-scale clinical validation studies have demonstrated that CTC enumeration independently predicts progression-free and overall survival in metastatic breast, prostate, and colorectal cancer. He leads European consortia standardizing CTC detection methods for clinical implementation.
