Omid Farokhzad is a pioneer in targeted polymeric nanoparticle platforms for cancer drug delivery. He developed BIND-014, a docetaxel-loaded PLGA-PEG nanoparticle bearing PSMA-targeting aptamers, demonstrating feasibility of actively targeted nanoparticles in phase I trials. His research has explored the EPR effect, active targeting strategies, and controlled release mechanisms in cancer nanomedicine, and he has translated multiple nanoparticle platforms toward clinical investigation.
