Oliver Bhatt explores the therapeutic application of exosomes and engineered extracellular vesicles as natural nanoparticle drug delivery systems for cancer. His research has developed methods to load exosomes with chemotherapy drugs, nucleic acid therapeutics, and immunomodulatory cargos while preserving their natural biocompatibility and tumor-targeting capabilities. He demonstrated that exosomes derived from mesenchymal stem cells or dendritic cells can deliver functional cargo to tumor cells with reduced immunogenicity compared to synthetic nanoparticles. His work is advancing clinical-grade exosome drug delivery platforms for oncology applications.
