Oleg Akilov investigates epigenetic mechanisms underlying CTCL and the therapeutic application of HDAC inhibitors including vorinostat and romidepsin in mycosis fungoides and Sezary syndrome. His research has examined gene expression profiles altered by HDAC inhibition in CTCL cells and predictors of clinical response. He also contributes to biomarker identification studies for skin-directed and systemic CTCL therapies.
