Nora Bhatt investigates the understudied role of basophils in cancer immunity, demonstrating that basophil-derived IL-4 and IL-13 shape the tumor microenvironment by promoting Th2 polarization and influencing macrophage and dendritic cell function. Her research has revealed that basophil infiltration in certain tumors correlates with type 2 immune responses that can either promote or suppress cancer depending on tumor type. She has developed methods for detecting and characterizing rare basophil populations in tumor tissue. Her work addresses a critical knowledge gap in granulocyte cancer biology.
