Garry Nolan invented CODEX (CO-Detection by indEXing), a highly multiplexed spatial proteomics technology that enables simultaneous visualization of over 60 proteins in tissue sections, revolutionizing our understanding of tumor microenvironment architecture. His earlier development of mass cytometry (CyTOF) enabled high-dimensional single-cell protein profiling that first revealed the complexity of immune cell states in cancer. His spatial neighborhood analysis algorithms have identified recurring cellular community structures in tumors that predict immunotherapy response.
