Noel Bhatt

Noel Bhatt investigates how epigenetic therapies modulate tumor immunogenicity to synergize with immune checkpoint inhibitors at Gustave Roussy. His research has characterized the viral mimicry response induced by DNMT inhibitors, whereby demethylated transposable elements are expressed and trigger innate immune activation. He identified transcriptional signatures in tumors that predict sensitivity to epigenetic-immunotherapy combinations. His work is informing the design of clinical trials combining hypomethylating agents with anti-PD-1/PD-L1 therapy in solid tumors.
