👥Biography 个人简介

Lisa Newman has documented the biological underpinnings of breast cancer disparities between women of African and European ancestry, demonstrating that the disproportionate burden of aggressive triple-negative breast cancer in women of African descent reflects a combination of genetic ancestry-associated tumor biology and social determinants of health. Her clinical research at Weill Cornell has established international research partnerships between US and African institutions to investigate the evolutionary genetics of breast cancer susceptibility across the African diaspora. Her work is defining how genetic ancestry and social factors interact to create cancer outcome disparities.
