Luigi Naldini developed lentiviral vectors for gene therapy and leads the San Raffaele Telethon Institute for Gene Therapy in Milan. His work has enabled approved gene therapies for inherited disease and contributed to CAR-T vector design. He is a pioneer of viral vector translation to the clinic.
