Morie Gertz at Mayo Clinic has been the leading authority on AL amyloidosis (light chain amyloidosis) — a plasma cell disorder where misfolded immunoglobulin light chains deposit in organs causing progressive organ dysfunction. His work defining diagnostic criteria, prognostic scoring (Mayo staging), and treatment approaches for AL amyloidosis (including daratumumab combinations) has been foundational for this rare but serious disease related to myeloma.
