Monika Bhatt

Monika Bhatt is a tumor immunologist at Karolinska University Hospital who has advanced the quantification and clinical significance of stromal tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) in breast and other cancers. Her research contributed to the standardization of TIL scoring methodologies that are now used in clinical trials and practice as predictive biomarkers. She investigated mechanisms of immune exclusion by the tumor stroma that prevent TIL infiltration into tumor nests. Her work bridges stromal biology and clinical immunotherapy biomarker development.
