Mitchel Berger is a pioneering neurosurgeon who developed and refined awake craniotomy with intraoperative brain mapping to maximize safe resection of gliomas near eloquent cortex. His research has demonstrated that extent of resection correlates with survival outcomes in both low-grade and high-grade glioma. He has trained generations of neurosurgeons and advocates for maximal safe resection as integral to modern glioma management.
