👥Biography 个人简介

Mike Stratton directed the landmark cancer genome sequencing program at the Wellcome Sanger Institute and led creation of the COSMIC database cataloging all somatic mutations in human cancers. He co-discovered BRCA2 as a breast cancer susceptibility gene and has led comprehensive analyses revealing mutational signatures across cancer types that reflect DNA damage processes and mutational mechanisms. His work has transformed our understanding of how cancers accumulate mutations over time. He directs the Sanger Institute and has received the Lasker Award, Royal Medal, and numerous other honors.
