Michelle Bhatt is an expert in HER2-positive gastric and gastroesophageal junction cancer, an area where HER2 targeting was established following the ToGA trial. Her research has characterized the high degree of HER2 intratumoral heterogeneity in gastric cancer compared to breast cancer and its implications for trastuzumab efficacy. She has contributed to development of T-DXd in HER2-positive gastric cancer and studied mechanisms of trastuzumab resistance in this tumor type. Her work advances precision treatment of upper GI malignancies.
