Michel Sadelain

Dr. Michel Sadelain is a co-inventor of the modern chimeric antigen receptor T cell construct at MSKCC, developing key innovations including the CD3zeta signaling domain and co-stimulatory domain combinations that enabled effective CAR-T therapy. His laboratory pioneered CD19-targeting CAR-T cells that led to the first curative outcomes in relapsed B cell leukemia. His continued innovation on armored CARs, logic-gated designs, and solid tumor targeting extends the CAR-T revolution beyond hematologic malignancies.
