Michael A. Caligiuri

Michael Caligiuri is a distinguished NK cell biologist and cancer leader who has made seminal contributions to understanding NK cell development, differentiation, and anti-tumor function. His laboratory established key roles for cytokines including IL-15 and IL-21 in NK cell homeostasis and function. He characterized the molecular mechanisms of NK cell activation and tolerance to normal cells. As President of City of Hope, he continues to foster development of NK cell and other cellular therapies. He has trained dozens of NK cell researchers and is widely recognized as a founding figure in NK cell immunotherapy.
