Meritxell Huch

Meritxell Huch has contributed to development of adult tissue organoid technology, including cancer-derived organoids (tumoroids) from patient biopsies that can be used for drug sensitivity testing. Patient-derived organoids maintain the molecular heterogeneity of the original tumor and have shown correlation with clinical drug responses, making them promising platforms for precision oncology — predicting which drugs will work for an individual patient's cancer.
