Craig Mello shared the 2006 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for the co-discovery of RNA interference with Andrew Fire. His foundational work enabled the therapeutic siRNA field and the development of drugs for cancer and genetic disease. His laboratory continues to study small RNA biology.
