Marcela Maus has achieved milestone results in CAR-T cell therapy for glioblastoma at Massachusetts General Hospital, demonstrating that locally delivered CAR-T cells targeting EGFRvIII and other glioblastoma antigens can achieve dramatic tumor regressions in this notoriously treatment-resistant cancer. Her innovative approach of direct intracerebroventricular CAR-T cell administration overcame the blood-brain barrier challenge that had limited systemic cell therapy for brain tumors. Her work represents a pivotal advance in extending the promise of cell therapy beyond hematologic malignancies to the most challenging solid tumors.
