Matthew Porteus is a leading researcher in using CRISPR gene editing for treating diseases of blood cells including leukemia and lymphoma. His laboratory has developed precision genome editing approaches in hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells with direct therapeutic applications for blood cancers and inherited hematopoietic disorders. He has contributed novel approaches to improving the safety and efficiency of in vivo CRISPR delivery and has been instrumental in translating these technologies toward clinical trials. He is a co-founder of CRISPR therapeutics company Graphite Bio.
