Massimo Cristofanilli is a translational researcher at Northwestern who has championed the clinical use of circulating tumor cells and liquid biopsy in metastatic breast cancer. He has contributed to understanding ESR1 mutations as drivers of acquired endocrine resistance and to the development of novel selective estrogen receptor proteolysis-targeted therapies.
