👥Biography 个人简介
Prof. Martin Gleave is a pioneering prostate cancer researcher at UBC and founding director of the Vancouver Prostate Centre. He is internationally recognized for elucidating mechanisms of castration resistance and developing HSP27 and clusterin antisense therapies to overcome treatment resistance in prostate cancer.
🧪Research Fields 研究领域
🎓Key Contributions 主要贡献
Mechanisms of Castration Resistance
Discovered key roles of stress-induced survival proteins HSP27 and clusterin in driving castration resistance, developing OGX-011 (custirsen) and OGX-427 as antisense oligonucleotide therapies targeting these pathways.
Neoadjuvant and Combination Therapy
Led clinical trials combining androgen deprivation therapy with novel targeted agents, advancing understanding of timing and sequencing of treatments to delay castration resistance in localized and advanced disease.
Representative Works 代表性著作
OGX-011 Clusterin Antisense and Docetaxel in Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer
Journal of Clinical Oncology (2019)
Phase II trial evaluating clusterin antisense oligonucleotide custirsen combined with docetaxel in mCRPC with survival signals.
Stress Protein HSP27 as a Key Driver of Castration Resistance in Prostate Cancer
Cancer Cell (2012)
Mechanistic study identifying HSP27 upregulation under androgen deprivation as a critical driver of castration resistance.
