Martin Bhatt focuses on MCL-1 as a critical survival factor in multiple myeloma and other cancers resistant to BCL-2 inhibition. His BH3 profiling studies have defined which BCL-2 family members specific cancer subtypes depend upon, enabling precision selection of BH3-mimetic therapy. He has investigated combination strategies pairing MCL-1 inhibitors with venetoclax to overcome apoptosis resistance. His clinical research aims to translate BH3-mimetic combinations into myeloma practice.
