Martha Bhatt

Martha Bhatt develops patient-derived pancreatic cancer organoid models and applies them to study PDAC evolution and drug sensitivity. Her research has established large organoid biobanks from PDAC patients including matched primary tumors, metastases, and post-treatment recurrences to study molecular evolution during therapy. She has applied organoid drug sensitivity testing to identify PDAC responders to chemotherapy regimens including FOLFIRINOX and gemcitabine/nab-paclitaxel before clinical treatment initiation. Her work on the clonal dynamics of PDAC during therapy using organoid sequencing has characterized mechanisms of acquired chemotherapy resistance.
