Martee Hensley at MSK has been a leading researcher in uterine sarcomas — rare and aggressive tumors that include leiomyosarcoma (uLMS), the most common uterine sarcoma. Her clinical trials establishing gemcitabine/docetaxel and trabectedin as active regimens for uLMS, and her research on surgical management including the safety concerns around uterine morcellation and potential upstaging of occult uLMS, have been important for this understudied cancer.
