W. Marston Linehan

Marston Linehan at NCI has been the leading authority on hereditary kidney cancer, defining multiple hereditary renal cancer syndromes and their molecular bases: VHL syndrome (clear cell RCC), hereditary papillary RCC (MET mutations), HLRCC (fumarate hydratase-associated RCC with aggressive biology), and SDHB-related RCC. His work translating hereditary RCC genetics into sporadic RCC molecular understanding has been foundational for precision oncology in this disease.
