Markus Buchler

Markus Buchler is the world's highest-volume pancreatic cancer surgeon and leads the Heidelberg group that has established best practices for pancreatic resection and perioperative oncologic management. He co-led the CONKO-001 trial demonstrating adjuvant gemcitabine benefit in resected pancreatic cancer and has subsequently contributed to CONKO series trials. His work on surgical quality, R0 resection rates, and integration of systemic therapy with surgery has been foundational for pancreatic cancer management. Buchler chairs the European Pancreatic Club and has authored over 1000 peer-reviewed publications.
