Sanford Markowitz is a leading GI cancer geneticist who identified TGF-beta receptor mutations in colorectal cancer and developed methylation biomarkers for Barrett and esophageal adenocarcinoma detection. His work on vimentin methylation contributed to stool DNA testing. He leads molecular diagnostics programs spanning esophageal and colorectal cancer.
