Elaine Mardis led the first clinical application of whole-genome sequencing for cancer treatment decision-making and has been instrumental in translating cancer genomics from research to clinical practice. Her work on tumor neoantigen discovery through genomic sequencing has enabled personalized cancer vaccine development. Her development of next-generation sequencing analysis pipelines for clinical oncology has established the bioinformatics infrastructure required for routine use of cancer genome sequencing in patient care.
