Marco Bhatt

Marco Bhatt studies how lectin receptors on immune cells recognize tumor glycan patterns, with a focus on exploiting these interactions for targeted cancer immunotherapy delivery and immune activation. His work has characterized how tumors exploit galectin-glycan interactions to suppress T cell function and how DC-SIGN and other C-type lectins on dendritic cells can be targeted with glycan-decorated nanoparticles for cancer vaccine delivery. He has developed galectin inhibitors that restore anti-tumor immunity in preclinical models. His research is translating glycan-lectin biology into clinical cancer immunotherapy strategies.
