Joakim Lundeberg co-invented spatial transcriptomics, the foundational technology for mapping gene expression in tissue sections that has transformed cancer research and was recognized as Nature Methods Method of the Year. His Visium platform developed through 10x Genomics has become the most widely adopted spatial technology in cancer research. His integration of spatial transcriptomics with spatial proteomics has enabled comprehensive multi-modal mapping of tumor ecosystems at scale.
