👥Biography 个人简介

Luis Parada demonstrated that glioblastoma arises from neural stem cells in the subventricular zone, providing the first definitive evidence for a stem cell origin of brain tumors using genetically engineered mouse models with NF1 and p53 mutations. His work showed that quiescent glioma stem cells survive temozolomide chemotherapy and regenerate the tumor, identifying them as the critical therapeutic target for preventing glioblastoma recurrence. He has characterized the perivascular niche that maintains glioma stem cell self-renewal. His discoveries have reshaped strategies for glioblastoma treatment toward targeting the stem cell compartment.
