David Liu developed base editing and prime editing, CRISPR-derived technologies that enable precise single base changes without double-strand DNA breaks. His work has transformed the feasibility of correcting point mutations in cancer and genetic disease. He co-founded Beam Therapeutics, Prime Medicine, and Editas Medicine.
