David Liu invented base editing and prime editing, which enable precise single nucleotide changes without double-strand DNA breaks. These technologies have become foundational for engineering T cells and correcting cancer-associated point mutations. He co-founded Beam Therapeutics and Prime Medicine to translate these tools into therapies.
