Lisa Bhatt

Lisa Bhatt has pioneered intraoperative radiotherapy delivery and its integration into multimodal cancer treatment strategies. Her research with the TARGIT-A trial established targeted intraoperative radiotherapy as an alternative to whole-breast external beam radiation for selected early breast cancer. She has extended IORT applications to pancreatic cancer and other locally advanced solid tumors where intraoperative radiation can achieve high local doses with normal tissue sparing. Her work has changed guidelines for breast cancer radiation delivery.
