Jia-Ren Lin developed CyCIF (cyclic immunofluorescence), an iterative multiplexed imaging method that enables spatial proteomics profiling of entire tissue sections using standard microscopy equipment, making spatial proteomics accessible to clinical pathology laboratories. His whole-slide spatial proteomics approach has generated comprehensive tissue atlases of breast, colorectal, and lung cancers at centimeter scale. His work on clinical spatial biomarkers has demonstrated that CyCIF-derived spatial features outperform conventional pathology markers for predicting patient outcomes.
