Calvin Kuo developed the air-liquid interface organoid method that preserves native tumor stroma, including immune cells, fibroblasts, and vasculature, enabling physiologically accurate immunotherapy testing in vitro. His organoid-T cell co-culture systems have demonstrated checkpoint inhibitor responses that correlate with clinical outcomes. His technological innovations have made organoids a viable platform for immuno-oncology drug development.
