Kohei Shitara

Kohei Shitara at National Cancer Center Hospital East is among the most prolific researchers in gastric cancer globally, having led or contributed to RAINBOW, DESTINY-Gastric, KEYNOTE-811, and numerous other landmark gastric cancer trials. His work on ramucirumab as second-line standard of care and his contributions to understanding T-DXd activity in HER2-positive gastric cancer have transformed the therapeutic landscape. He has been instrumental in conducting pivotal studies on nivolumab in Japan and globally in gastric and GEJ cancer. His research on molecular classification of gastric cancer and biomarker-guided therapy represents a major contribution to the field.
